Why Healthy Weight Loss Doesn’t Have to be Hell

Healthy weight loss is not that difficult as you may think. There are a lot of ways to lose weight, but when it comes to implementation, it may require discipline on your part. Remember that weight loss is something that needs commitment, at least if you plan to do it in the long run. If you don’t have the commitment, then your efforts can only bring you so far, and don’t be surprised if you’ll see the weight come back.

One proven and tested weight loss scheme is exercise. It is only logical, as your body burns the excess calories when you are doing exercise. Your body needs fuel to function, thus you eat. Whatever excess calories that you do not use for your body’s normal functions get stored in your body as additional weight. The logical action for you to do is exercise to get rid of this excess weight. It’s simple, right?

Adhering to an exercise plan is harder, of course. It doesn’t have to be so if you know how to incorporate your exercise with the things that you are interested in. Brisk walking with your dog, yoga, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator (for five flights, at least) are just some ways exercise can be done without it looking so difficult.

Healthy weight loss and food may be perceived as two things that contradict each other. It doesn’t have to be the case. Too much food and weight loss is a mismatch, but healthy food and losing weight go hand in hand. After all, your body cannot function without food. So how do we make food our ally in our weight loss plan?

Be mindful of your body. As much as we need to listen to our bodies when it tells us that it is hungry, we also have to listen to it when it’s telling us that it is full. A lot of us stuff ourselves like there’s no tomorrow because we don’t want to waste food and we’ve been taught to finish everything our plate. We have to discipline ourselves. Put only enough food on your plate that you can finish, problem solved.

Late night snacks are unnecessary unless you plan to stay out until the morning. There’s no way your body is going to metabolize that food when you’re just going right back to bed. If the urge is too much, have an apple or a bunch of grapes.

Fiber is king. Fiber acts like a broom that sweeps your digestive system. Snack on fiber rich food and you’ll notice that you are more energized and never bloated.

Cleanse your system with water. Juice, tea, or coffee cannot replace the benefits of plain water when it comes to cleansing your system. Get rid of harmful substances in your body by flushing them with water.

For fat loss, it is only logical to decrease intake of foods rich in fat. Try to limit your consumption of food rich in fat to less than 20 grams per day. Fat is also a component needed by your body to function properly, but too much of it can certainly add to your weight too.

See? Healthy weight loss be done with the help of a few lifestyle changes that, when done together, equal a lighter, better you.
